About Breakwater

BREAKWATER RESTAURANT AND BAR features the creative cuisine of two Executive Chefs, Gary Lang and Elizabeth “Beth” Shaw, who’s goal is to continually bring you a delightful, satisfying, fine-dining experience in a relaxed, casual-chic atmosphere.

Breakwater offers an extensive wine list with special attention focused on paring with menu items. We also feature a full bar and with imported beers and American micro brews on tap.

Gary and Beth can be found in the kitchen daily, their combined talents complementing each other, as they create and prepare the mouthwatering dishes which have become their trademark.

Both Gary and Beth hold a Certified Culinarian degree, with Beth receiving her degree from the renowned Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute in Charleston, where she was an honor graduate. She interned at the Stockfarm in Montana and was employed as Sous Chef at popular Bistro 205 before becoming co-owner of Breakwater.

Gary received his degree from The Atlanta Art Institute school of Culinary Arts, where he was an honor graduate and member of the 2000-2001 Hot Food Olympic Team. His internship was with the prestigious Peachtree Golf and Country Club in Atlanta. He served as Executive Chef of Bistro 205 until 2004.

Breakwater is a new exciting restaurant that is a culmination of both their culinary visions. This is combined with the enthusiasm of the entire staff at Breakwater, headed by House Manager, Donna Lang, everyone is committed to excellence and will welcome you with a warm smile and Lowcountry hospitality.
